Our journey began with a simple belief: every child deserves stories, experiences, and products that inspire confidence, celebrate diversity, and nurture a lifelong love of learning.
Founded by Chioma Akunwanne, an educator, children's author, storyteller, and early childhood advocate, Amara was created to bring meaningful learning and joyful childhood experiences together in one magical place. After years of working with children, families, educators, and schools, Chioma Akunwanne recognized the need for books and products that not only entertain children but also help them develop important social-emotional skills, positive character traits, and self-confidence.
At the heart of our brand is Amara, a curious, courageous, and kind young girl whose adventures inspire children to explore, learn, dream, and grow. Through Amara's stories, children discover lessons about friendship, kindness, resilience, emotional awareness, listening, problem-solving, and believing in themselves.
As the Amara brand grew, so did our vision. We expanded beyond books to create Amara Magic Wear—a children's clothing collection designed to celebrate imagination, cultural pride, creativity, and positive self-expression. Every product we create reflects our commitment to helping children feel valued, empowered, and proud of who they are.
